Quality Engineer
c. £30K plus bonus and excellent benefits
There are many good reasons to come to Devro. Perhaps the most important is that here we'll give you a chance to really make your mark. As part of a small team you'll have far more immediate responsibility and a far wider remit than would be the case in many other food manufacturers. If you join our company, you'll be working with our quality systems manager, who will mentor you and help develop your career. Then there's the fact that at Devro we have a tradition and ethos of quality, stemming from our days as part of Johnson and Johnson, which permeates every aspect of our operations.
We have a unique technological process within the food industry, dealing with a non-uniform raw material that doesn't obey the normal rules and depends on people developing an understanding of collagen engineering and then being able to deliver the quality and consistency of product that is vital to our customers.
In addition to the information in the advert we can tell you that as well as the main competencies specified there, a degree in a relevant scientific area, food science or similar, would be useful. If this was also coupled with several years' relevant experience in a food manufacturing or fmcg environment, supplying the major retailers, either directly or indirectly, that would be even better! A 'can-do' attitude, good communication skills and a willingness to learn are also important so you can anticipate and react to the constantly changing demands on our business. With new systems being put into place in the future, there is a real opportunity here for you to prosper and progress.
